Meet the Teacher

    Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year at RCVS!  I am Ms. Peterson and I will be teaching English/Language Arts to 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. This will be my 20th year teaching middle school and I'm so excited to embark on this journey with you. I have a B.A. in English/Secondary Education and a M.Ed in Curriculum and Instruction. My teaching experience has included a wide range of ability levels, from at-risk/intervention to gifted education and everything in between.

     I am the mom of three amazing humans--Caleb, Jack, and Hannah Grace. In my free time I love to read, listen to live music, and travel. 

     English/Language Arts is typically divided into two distinct classes in middle school.  As a result, we will be covering A LOT of content. Novel studies, essay writing, vocabulary, grammar, reading strategies, etc. will all be incorporated into my ELA class this year. There is a lot to cover, so be ready to hit the ground running! We will be using the Amplify curriculum that is currently being used in all middle school ELA classrooms in Rutherford County.  It is the perfect platform for virtual teaching and learning.  

     I look forward to reuniting with last year's RCVS students and getting to know the new RCVS families. It's going to be an incredible year. Go Trailblazers!
