Meet the Teacher

Ms. Peterson Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year at RCVS!  I am Ms. Peterson and I will be teaching English/Language Arts to 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. This will be my 17th year teaching middle school and I'm so excited to embark on this journey with you. I have a B.A. in English/Secondary Education and a M.Ed in Curriculum and Instruction. My teaching experience has included a wide range of ability levels, from at-risk/intervention to gifted education and everything in between. I taught both virtually and in-person during the 2020-2021 school year, so I'm thrilled to be able to focus on the virtual platform this year.
I am a mom of three amazing humans--Caleb, Jack, and Hannah Grace.  Caleb is a UT grad and he and his wife, Kristen, live in Cincinnati, Ohio with their five fur babies.  Jack is about to begin his junior year at UT-Chattanooga. Hannah Grace is a 4th grader at Overall Creek Elementary.  In my free time I love to listen to live music and travel.
English/Language Arts is typically divided into two distinct classes in middle school.  As a result, we will be covering A LOT of content.  Novel studies, essay writing, vocabulary, grammar, reading strategies, etc. will all be incorporated into my ELA class this year. There is a lot to cover, so be ready to hit the ground running! We will be using the Amplify curriculum that is currently being used in all middle school ELA classrooms in Rutherford County.  It is the perfect platform for virtual teaching and learning.
I look forward to getting to know the RCVS families. It's going to be an incredible year. Go Trailblazers!
