The ACT TEST is one of two most widely accepted national exams that are utilized for college admission. The ACT consists of four multiple choice sections that cover English, Math, Reading, and Science. Students can also opt to take the ACT Test + Writing, which includes the four multiple choice sections plus an essay. Each of the ACT sections are scored from 1-36 and then averaged together to give students their composite score. The highest score a student can obtain is a 36. The score is based on the number of questions that are answered correctly; there is no penalty for guessing.
In Rutherford County, all Seniors will take the ACT free of charge on Tuesday, October 18th at the North Rutherford Teacher Center (302 Walnut St., Smyrna). The writing portion is not included during the free state ACT administration. More information will be shared with RCVS families in the coming weeks regarding logistics. In Spring 2023, all Juniors will have the option to the take the ACT for free as well (Date and Time to be determined).
There are numerous National ACT Test Dates during the school year that students can sign up for. The cost of the ACT(without writing) is $60. Students may qualify for an ACT Fee Waiver if they meet certain financial hardship criteria. Please talk to Mrs. Courtney or Mrs. Williams if you think you may qualify.
